Mercier Orchards: Blue Ridge, GA

September 21, 2017

Apple picking in the fall. It’s something that has been at the top of my bucket list for what seems like years now. Sounds kind of silly right? I’m not sure why this autumn activity was something I was dying to do so badly, but I will tell you it did not disappoint. We went to Mercier Orchards during their Labor Day Weekend event and it was the most fun! They had all types of things going on, live music, a petting zoo, pony rides, you name it. Needless to stay it was a packed house, but we got our apple picking bags and headed to the orchards.

A little about Mercier Orchards, they are a family owned and operated company now into it’s 4th generation. The store is gigantic and includes a bakery and tasting area. In the tasting area you can try the different hard ciders that they offer, all made right there at the orchard. They also have a few different varieties of wine available. The tasting room is at the top of my list for next time 😉 You can find out where you can find their hard cider and wine throughout the state of Georgia here.

This was something I was SO excited to do with Aubrey. We do a U-Pick here in Tampa at my coworker’s strawberry farm and we come home with more strawberries than I can count. So I knew she was going to love apple picking. We had planned to make an apple pie with some of the apples so she got to work finding the best of the best apples.                                                  Me: Button-up/T-shirt/Jeans/Shoes/Sunglasses (similar)  Aubrey: Jeans/Shoes

After picking all the apples we could shove into our bag and eating a few along the way, it was time for a little fun.

On our way out, we stopped by the store to grab some apple butter and apple cider donuts. And yes, they were delicious. We left with full bellies and ready to bake apple pie, a first for both Aubrey and I. We can’t wait to go back to Mercier Orchards again soon for another round of picking.

To keep up with all things Mercier Orchards, including different events, check out their Facebook and Instagram pages. And if you guys have any suggestions of other orchards around the North Georgia area I’d love to hear what they are, drop them in the comments below! I’m hoping to make this an annual fall activity for our little family 🙂
