There’s a new pizza place coming in a hot and it’s not going anywhere any time soon. MidiCi, based out of L.A., just opened it’s first store in the Tampa Bay Area and we can only hope there’s more to come. It’s a feel good pizza place, if that’s even a thing, from the friendly, cozy environment to the fresh ingredients, MidiCi is one of those places that makes you want to come back again and again. Yeah, it’s that good.
Can we talk about the living tree in the restaurant? How cool is that! It makes the entire space feel so homey and I love it.
Naturally, we started things off with a cheese board. How amazing does this look!? It included black truffle cheese, fresh mozzarella, goat cheese, gorgonzola and parmigiano-reggiano served with dried apricots, dates, walnuts and honey. I’m a goat cheese lover but the black truffle cheese took the cake on this one.
Typically I don’t order salads when I go out for pizza, because let’s be honest, I like to eat and I don’t have room to waste on salads. But THIS salad you guys, you’re going to want to order. It’s the MidiCi House Salad and it comes with greens, arugula, grape tomatoes, parmigiano-reggiano and a balsamic vinaigrette dressing.
The first pizza we tried was the double pepperoni, complete with Italian tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, pepperoni and spicy Italian salami. Look at all that cheese! All the pizzas are made with fresh ingredients and go right into the wood-fired ovens in the heart of the restaurant.
We were told the Devil’s pizza (Diavola) was a favorite, so we ordered one of those too with Gluten Free crust. It comes with Italian tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, housemade spicy sausage, spicy Italian salami and red chilies. The pizza had just the right amount of heat so it wasn’t too spicy to eat and the Gluten Free crust was actually really good.
A calzone filled with Nutella? Sign me up. Add in strawberries, blackberries, blueberries and a balsamic reduction and you’ve got one heck of a delicious dessert.
Ok, so who’s hungry now? ME. I’m really hoping to get back to MidiCi soon and bring Greg and Aubrey with me because I know they’ll love it. I’ve got my eye on the truffle and prosciutto pizza for next time, as well as the Hawaiian pizza (yes, I’m one of those people who loves pineapple on pizza).
If you’ve never been to MidiCi, you can head here to find a location near you. There are so many new locations popping up and I can only hope we get one on this side of the bay soon! To be sure you don’t miss a thing you can follow along on the MidiCi Instagram and Facebook pages. If you guys have been before, I’d love to hear what your favorite thing is to order!
