While we were in New Orleans after Christmas, Greg and I went down to the French Quarter for a day. I always love going down there when we are visiting because there is always something going on. The area right around Jackson Square is my favorite because of all the artists that are set up around the park. We went inside St. Louis Cathedral and it was absolutely stunning. As many times as I have been right outside of it I had never actually gone in. There’s never enough time in the day to do everything I want to do when we visit, but there’s always next year!
Hotel Monteleone is home to the Carousel Bar, we stopped by hoping to find a spot to sit but had no such luck. The place was packed! And I’m sure that happens quite often, as it is one of the top bars to visit in New Orleans.
We went to Royal House for lunch because you can’t visit New Orleans without eating a poboy. So naturally I got a fried oyster poboy (no, that’s not part of the wedding diet) and a bloody mary (also not part of the wedding diet). Both were delicious so I highly suggest a stop here if you’re in the area.
The French Quarter is hands down my favorite part about New Orleans. There’s so much to do, so much to see and so much history. The options for food are endless and nothing beats beignets and a cafe au lait from Cafe du Monde.
