The Melting Pot Re-Grand Opening: Tampa, FL

July 20, 2017

A few weeks ago I had the chance to visit The Melting Pot here in Tampa for their re-grand opening event. I’m a big fan of fondue, there’s something so fun about the whole experience, so I was excited to visit the newly renovated restaurant with a couple other bloggers and spend the night chatting over what was sure to be a delicious dinner. I mean, who wouldn’t be excited for a 4-course meal that includes cheese and chocolate fondue!?

While I was waiting on the other girls to join me, I grabbed a spot in the bar area and started off with the Hendrick’s Cucumber Martini, which I would have gotten over and over again if I thought that was acceptable 😉 it was that good.

The bar area got a nice little facelift and I love it. It makes for a great spot to dine for those wanting a more laid back atmosphere.

CHEESE PLEASE! We chose not one but two cheese fondues to try. We went with the Fiesta and the Spinach Artichoke and they were both so gooey and delicious. If I had to pick one for next time I’d definitely go with the Fiesta, made with aged cheddar and emmenthaler cheeses and melted with lager beer, house-made salsa and jalapeño.

Onto course two, the salads. The California salad was right up my alley because it came with candied pecans, one of the best things you can possibly have on a salad. It also included mixed greens, tomato and gorgonzola cheese with a raspberry walnut dressing.

In the meantime, another drink was ordered. This time I went with their Melting Pot Mule. I love a good Moscow Mule and I loved it even more when it came in this cute mug! Fun tip: for $10 more you can take the mug home.

For our main course we had 5 different items; Filet Mignon, Honey Orange Duck Breast, Memphis-Style BBQ Pork Medallion, Sriracha Lime Shrimp and Wild Mushroom Sacchetti. With this course you get to choose your cooking style, we went with the signature Coq Au Vin and the Mojo.

Our waitress went over all the details and most importantly the cooking times with us and then we got started. We took turns trying the different sauces and finding out what paired best with which item. My favorite meats that I would definitely get again were the Filet Mignon and the Sriracha Lime Shrimp. The shrimp cooked in the mojo seasoning was YUM!

With our bellies starting to feel full but keeping our eyes on the prize (chocolate fondue coming up!) we ordered a round of the Yin & Yang Martinis to pair with our desserts. How cute are these!?

And finally, what we had been working towards all night, the chocolate fondue. We didn’t hesitate to pick the two we would be trying, the Flaming Turtle and the Cookies N’ Cream Marshmallow Dream. Just typing that is making me want to grab some chocolate and pull out my fondue pot, even though it wouldn’t be nearly as amazing as these were. I definitely thought I’d like the Flaming Turtle better, but the Cookies N’ Cream Marshmallow Dream won by a mile to all of us. The flavor was so good and I loved pairing it with the Rice Krispy treats.

We were blown away by our service and the hospitality of the entire staff while we were there. The new renovations are going to do great things for this location and I can’t wait to go back with Aubrey and indulge in another pot of chocolate fondue. The Melting Pot is one of our fav spots to go for special occasions. The California salad is the best salad hands down because of those candied pecans. So yummy! Looks like you girls had a great time!

It’s always a special treat when I get to eat at a Melting Pot! (There’s not one near me.) Always a tough choice on what to order, it all sounds so good!
