Ok guys, go ahead and put this at the top of your list of places to eat at. I had been dying to try this hidden little gem for far too long and finally made my way over to Lakeland this weekend. Right along Main Street sits The Poor Porker. You walk through the gate and it’s like the Pinterest board of your dreams came to life and decided to serve beignets and coffee. It was the perfect chilly (yes, Florida does get “cold” sometimes) morning for checking out a new spot while sipping on hot coffee and munching on made-to-order beignets.
All that beignet and coffee goodness comes from right inside that little truck. We were served by Mama Bones, one of the sweetest little ladies you’ll ever meet.
We tried the Carmel Apple beignet special and they were delicious. I could’ve honestly eaten another order of these and had no shame. SO GOOD.
Hidden around a corner, we kept finding new little things to love about this place.
You didn’t think we got just one order did you!? We also tried The Poor Porker beignets, topped with powdered sugar, maple syrup and bacon. Yes, yes, yes.
Right in the middle of everything, this teepee. They thought of it all.
Don’t be afraid to get a little messy, it’s bound to happen. We loved everything about our Saturday morning at The Poor Porker. The beignets were hot, fresh and delicious, just as we knew they would be. And the hospitality had that good small town feel to it. Take your time to wonder around both inside and out and marvel at all that this little spot has to offer. They constantly have something fun going on, so stay up-to-date by visiting their Facebook page and Instagram. They are open Thursday-Sunday (varying times so make sure to check before going) and closed Monday-Wednesday. When you guys go, you have to let me know what you think and of course share all the photos you took!
